I enjoy the dynamics of shade and light and translating them into detailed pencil drawings. I work with graphite pencils because of their versatility to blend, soften, and darken. The toning of the paper I select allows me to achieve greater dimension. Working from a photograph, I observe and translate the details with careful attention to texture and values to depict the image.

COMMISSION INQUIRY

Commissions are custom pieces of artwork and a very individual process. Pricing is based on the subject matter, complexity, size, full-body versus head, timeframe, optional framing, shipping, and other considerations. Pricing can range from $350 to $2,000. As a guide, on average, an unframed 11" x 15" single headshot in graphite pencil or color pastel is $350 (pet) or $450 (person).

You can submit an initial inquiry via the contact form below. I will contact you to discuss the details and relevant source materials you can provide, such as high-resolution images. The more detailed and higher quality photo provided, the more detailed I can make your portrait. I accept commissions from older or more blurred images while using my knowledge and research to provide as much detail as possible. 

I will always provide a quote based on your needs before beginning the work. I require a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure the project's position in my work queue. I will send a final invoice with the shipping estimate when the project is complete. I typically ship FedEx Ground unless you require expedited shipping. Upon payment, I will deliver your artwork.

All works are completed on the highest quality professional grade materials, which are archival, acid-free, and lightfast to ensure your artwork is enjoyed for decades.
